There have been so many new vegan places opening up in Nola! I am really excited and can't wait to try them all!

Mango Avocado Poblano Salsa

 

Here is a great summer salsa to keep everyone happy!

 

1 large ripe mango

1 Jalapeno

1 Poblano Pepper

1 Hass Avocado

1 lime

Salt and Pepper to taste

 

Peel mango and cut into small pieces. Take the seeds out of the poblano and jalapeno peppers and cut into really small pieces. Cut the avocado in half and take the seed out and cut into bite size pieces. Cut lime and use all of the juice on the salsa. Salt and pepper to taste! Mix and eat with bean quesadillas or tortilla chips! Yummy!!

Some of my favorite meals are green smoothies! I love how they make me feel and how they taste!

Here is my standby recipe:

2 Cups of Dino Kale or any other type of kale

1 Cup of spinach, romaine, or wild greens

1 cup of frozen blueberries

1 small piece of ginger

1 scoop of vegan sun warrior powder

1 Tablespoon of Chia seeds

2 cups of coconut water

1/4 cup of hemp or flax milk

Mix for a couple minutes and serve! It make 2 large smoothies. One for you and one for someone else!!

These are so good for you. Sometimes you get too busy during the day to eat healthy items so if you at least start your day off with a green smoothie you will be half way there!

Best Vegan Food in New Orleans

Some of the best food in the nation come from New Orleans so lets see the vegan side of things!

The Wandering Buddha is some of the best vegan food! They have all kinds of things that are both vegan and Korean! yummy! They have a great stir fried rice cake with vegetables. They even have a great rice cake dessert with cinnamon and walnuts that was amazing. You may even like the dumplings!

Feelings café is a great option for vegan mushroom boudin which is amazing! 

One of my personal favorites is Lebanon Café! I love their hummus and whole wheat bread! The falafels are so tasty and the prices are amazing!

I'm sure that there are many other great vegan restaurants in New Orleans but these are some of the top spots!

Summer Vegan Coleslaw

Vegan Summer Coleslaw

Nothing says summer like a great coleslaw! I love to use coleslaw on all of my vegan burgers and as a side dish for all vegan BBQ's! Not only is this coleslaw vegan it is also raw!!!How good is that for you!

• 1 head of organic cabbage
• 2 carrots peeled and shredded
• 1/4 raw coconut vinegar
• 1 tablespoon maple syrup
• 2 tablespoons of poppy seeds
• 1/8-1/4 cup of really good olive oil
• Sprinkle of red pepper flakes

Mix all of the ingredients together and let it sit of around 1/2 hour until all of the flavors blend together and then serve!

This is one of my favorite raw food cafes! They have some of the best raw food anywhere! You can't even tell that it is raw food when you are eating it! I just love what they are doing and what they are doing for the community! They are such and asset! I love them!

This is there raw pasta salad! Yummy!!!!!

What are Vegan Products?

Vegan products are products that are made without causing harm to animals or without using animals at all. Did you know that that have things like vegan shoes? One of my favorite designers is Stella McCarthy and she makes really cool clothing and shoes that are vegan! Some of the top vegan shoe companies are Merrell, Jambu, Keen Kids, Big Buddha, Rocket Dogs (very cool), and one of my favorites Toms shoes. Herbivore is another very cool clothing company that you should check out! Ecoskin, Olsenhaus, Imposter, and Vaute Couture are some other very good vegan clothing companies that are worth looking into. You don't have to throw all your clothes out at once just start with a few pieces and then eventually you will have a closet full of vegan clothing!

 

There are even vegan makeup companies like Ecco Bella, Tarte, Urban Decay (love their eye shadows), and Too faced which is one of my favorites! Some popular as well as cool vegan companies are Lush (soaps) and Aveda products (I love their rosemary soap). I even found out they make bamboo toilet paper from Bum Boosa! There are so many alternatives out there. Try them and experiment with what you like and then share it with others! That is the only way to help out environment!

 

First thing is always check the labels and ask if you don't know!
